Raytheon Co. Designates National Technical Systems as a Vendor for Environmental, Structural Testing, Certification, Registration Services

CALABASAS, CA – August 30, 2004 – National Technical Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:NTSC) (NTS), a leading provider of quality and conformance testing and managed services, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Waltham, Mass.-based Raytheon Co. (NYSE:RTN) covering a wide variety of environmental and structural testing, certification and registration services. The agreement was reached after a review of the testing capabilities of NTS and its procedures and qualified personnel. According to NTS Chairman and CEO Jack Lin, Ph.D., this agreement with Raytheon demonstrates the unique capabilities of NTS.  

As a supplier for Raytheon Co., NTS will perform the testing at its various labs and facilities around the world. Among the testing services NTS is expected to perform for Raytheon are computer parts and software testing, ballistics testing, large caliber and rocket testing, ISO accreditation, and many others. NTS has already played an important testing role in Raytheon's Javelin and Tomahawk missile programs.
