NTS Approved To Perform Wireless USB Compliance Testing
National Technical Systems Inc. was recently approved by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) as an Independent Test Lab (ITL) to perform certification testing for wireless USB products based on the Wireless USB 1.0 Specification. This approval increases the range of USB products NTS has tested over the years, from early USB 1.1 peripherals to current wireless USB peripherals.
Culver City, CA (PR Web) June 24, 2008 – National Technical Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:NTSC) (NTS), a leading provider of engineering services, announced today that it has been approved by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) as an Independent Test Lab (ITL) to perform testing for products based on the Wireless USB 1.0 Specification.
Wireless USB combines the best of wired USB with a short-range wireless communications protocol. Based on the WiMedia Alliance’s Ultra-Wideband (UWB) common radio platform, Wireless USB is backwards compatible with wired USB, supporting up to 127 devices with a bandwidth of up to 480 Mb/s at 3 meters and 100Mb/s at 10 meters. NTS performs certification testing of Wireless USB products using the same test procedures which have been tested and refined at numerous USB “plugfests” over the past year. Testing will be available for native device silicon, Host Wire Adapter (HWA), Device Wire Adapter (DWA) end products, and native host (WHCI) and device end-products.
“For almost a decade, NTS has performed testing of the entire range of USB products – from early USB 1.1 peripherals to the latest Wireless USB peripherals,” said Osman Sakr, NTS CTO. “NTS is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the USB Implementers Forum in providing high-quality compliance and certification services for USB developers.”
According to USB-IF, companies wishing to submit Wireless USB products for testing and certification should continue to use the existing procedure for submitting the physical product. Detailed instructions are available at http://www.usb.org/developers/wusb/testing
