Aerospace Testing Capabilities

NTS specializes in providing complete turnkey solutions for all aerospace manufacturers. Whether your primary customer base consists of civilian aviation or defense contractors, we can help you meet regulatory requirements such as MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD-202, while developing safer, more durable and more accurate products overall.

Specific types of aerospace tests we can perform include:

  • Dynamics testing: How your product responds to vibration, shock and acoustic noise plays a large role in determining its longevity and usefulness in aerospace applications. NTS’s testing labs are equipped with a wide range of dynamics testing machines, including shakers capable of delivering up to 45,000 force/pounds and 3.0” stroke, accelerators with forces up to 750g, and pyro-shock simulators.
  • Environmental simulation: Aerospace components must be able to stand up to not only extremes in temperature but also rapids shifts between these extremes. Our facilities are equipped with environmental simulation chambers of various sizes that can test everything from individual devices to complete systems. In addition to temperature and humidity, we can accurately simulate altitude, explosive atmospheres, sand and salt fog, and more.
  • Fuel testing: Fuel tank and fuel system testing assesses safety issues as well as the overall efficiency and performance of these important components. NTS can provide a number of relevant services, including helium leak tests, flow analysis, functional/qualification testing and more — everything you need to meet ARP 603, ARP 1383 and ISO 6772 standards.
  • EMI/EMC: Accurately simulating the highly radiated conditions experienced in space is a key component of aerospace testing. Our facilities include anechoic chambers up to 40’ x 40’ x 20’ where we can perform HIRF testing and other important functions. Our Pittsfield, MA lab is home to NTS Lightning Technologies, where we perform sophisticated stroke and burst lightning simulations for aerospace clients such as GE, Hamilton Sundstrand and NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
