Test Technician (Vibration)

NTS has an exciting opportunity for a Vibration Test Technician to support the testing of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components for the aerospace, defense and other industries. The Vibration Technician is responsible for the setup and performance of shock and/or ordnance tests utilizing modern test equipment. This individual will also be responsible for troubleshooting test setups, interfacing with customers, and supporting fellow team members in accomplishing daily tasks. Additionally, interfacing with Program Managers and proactively working to maintain a proper workflow through the department will be required. Although we prefer vibration testing experience, we will consider a recent BSME graduate with similar testing experience, as an intern or school project, but you must have strong mechanical aptitude and want to work with your hands. We will also consider someone with a strong hands-on mechanical aptitude who has worked as an automotive mechanic, aircraft mechanic, avionics technician or mechanical/engineering technician in manufacturing.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

• Data collection utilizing standard test control systems, signal conditioners, and instrumentation
• Analysis and verification of test setups, test levels and requirements
• Assisting with design/engineering/drawing/fabrication of complex and/or customized shock/vibration fixtures
• Dynamics testing with emphasis on half-sine, SRS and MIPS shock techniques

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship (present and future) and able to pass a drug test and DMV and background check
• High School Diploma or the equivalent GED
• 2+ years of shock and/or ordnance testing and handling experience (preferred) but we will consider a recent BSME graduate with similar testing experience, as an intern or school project but you must have strong mechanical aptitude and want to work with your hands. We will also consider someone with a strong hands-on mechanical aptitude who has worked as an automotive mechanic, welder, aircraft mechanic or avionics tech.
• Ability to use various electronics (i.e. volt meter), control and data acquisition systems
• Qualified/eligible to handle explosive materials
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent people skills, must be a strong team player and willing to adapt as necessary
• Understanding of Military & Aerospace compliance standards
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel) required
• Experience in electronics and/or the ability to perform signal analysis
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
• Willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
• Familiarity with MIL-STD810, and/or RTCA-DO160 test methodology is a plus
• LabView programming experience is a plus
