Materials Test Engineer

National Technical Systems (NTS), the leading provider of testing and engineering services, is seeking a Materials Test Engineer in its Anaheim, CA location. We will consider a recent graduate with a Materials Engineering Degree and related project or internship experience.


• Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; confirming with management
• Designing and procuring mechanical and electrical test fixtures
• Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements;
• Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates
• Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
• Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
• Controls project costs by monitoring and approving expenditures
• Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Conduct Finite Element Analysis to validate required specifications are met
• Customer Liaison
• Supervise small team of technicians


• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship and able (present or future) to pass a drug test and DMV and background check
• BS degree in Materials Science Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with materials testing experience
• Quality experience and project management experience is highly desirable
• Mechanical/Electrical Design Skills and Experience with LabView™ preferred
• Background in electronic and mechanical systems and test equipment
• Capable of creating test programs and computer software programs (LabView)
• Good verbal communication skills
• Extensive computer skills
• Proficient in technical writing
• Excellent people skills and be a strong team player willing to adapt as necessary
• Ability to tolerate stress and work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
• Positive “Can Do” attitude while displaying the initiative and ability to problem solve
• Strong attention to detail
• Willing to work overtime when needed
