Electrical Technician

NTS in Wichita, KS, is seeking a Ballistics Test Technician to perform tests and/or measurement tasks for the Ballistics department which tests energetic and inert projectiles, typically bullets, missiles and bombs. We are seeking ballistics experience or we will consider someone to train who has worked as a mechanical or electrical technician.

• Test Setup – Read specifications from technical documents (Test Standards, Customer SOWs, and Test Plans/Procedures), identify/prepare test equipment
• Perform Testing – Monitor tests per specifications, interact with customers if needed, troubleshoot, and document all pertinent data
• Data Processing – After test completion, verify, review and document all pertinent data. Finalize data and send to the Program Manager
• Lab Maintenance / Post-Test Breakdown – Physically remove test items. Maintain lab by cleaning all equipment, keeping calibrated instruments current, & organizing supplies
• Other – Perform other duties as assigned


• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship (present or future) and able to pass a drug test and DMV and background check
• HS Diploma or GED; AA or AS OR trade school for ballistics testing certificate OR military ballistics training strongly preferred
• 5 years of ballistics/munitions/ordnance experience or we will consider someone who has worked as a mechanical or electrical technician to train
• Under limited supervision can perform most recurring work independently
• Able to complete advanced technical and mechanical procedures, performs assignments that are not standardized or prescribed, regularly interacts with clients, troubleshoots and reworks complex tests. Advanced interpretation and analysis of test results; regularly called upon to provide input on test results
• Advanced knowledge of Ballistics & Mechanical principles, comprehensive knowledge of all potential aspects of safety
• Able to use all standard and complex Ballistics equipment; able to accurately capture necessary data; good understanding AC/DC circuits
• Basic MS Office skills
