Lightning Protection of Wind Turbines
October 22 @ 8:00 am - October 24 @ 5:00 pm
This updated, three-day course will cover lightning interaction and effects and damage mechanisms on wind turbines, including especially the blades, and turbine electronic instrumentation and control systems.
The course includes an explanations of the most recent updates of the wind turbine lightning standard IEC 61400-24, with including especially the design and lightning test standards for wind turbine blades manufactured of composite materials including carbon, and the process for integration of other electrical/electronic systems into blades, such as anti-ice, aerodynamic controls, and lighting. The course includes laboratory demonstrations of some of the standard test methods and examples of numerical simulations of lightning interactions with blades.
Prospective students are encouraged to contact Andy Plumer, Chief Engineer of NTS Lightning Technologies location in Pittsfield, MA, (firstname.lastname@example.org or +1 413 822 2080) for further information regarding this course.
