The purpose for this document is to help the ISP to create a Hybrid cd for distributing mac, windows, and linux sw. To do this you need to build it on a Mac, running the Roxio Toast Titanium ( originally Adaptec Easy CD) cd burning sw. These are the main steps do building the hybrid cd:
Your cd hybrid image will require several files to be copied over from Mac and Windows servers. You may also want to save copies of your settings for future builds. Duplicate a folder (Command-D) from a previous build, or create a new folder to copy your files to and save your Roxio Toast settings. Here is an example of the folder layout, titled ISP Quickstart:
Copy the Mac files over to your folder from your Mac Server using Appletalk or FTP.
You will need to create a Mac volume on your desktop that Roxio Toast will use to create your CD image. Once the files are copied over (in the above example, the files are located in the subfolder called Mac). Select the mac files to be placed on the Mac volume and estimate the partition size. Use the File - Get Info (command I ) to derive the total file allocation. In the following illustration we see the need to create a Mac Volume partition of 18.5 MB.
Start Roxio Toast and create a Mac volume partition for the Mac cd image from the Utilities menu:
The Mac files above take up 18.5 MB. We will allow 20 MB to be safe. Typically this partition will be created on the Desktop, so make sure you have available disk space. Also we need to give the Mac volume a name which will appear on the Mac desktop when loaded:
Clicking OK will create the following desktop icon which is effectively your new Mac Volume for the cd. An icon will appear on your desktop.
Using the Roxio Toast software, click the Other graphic to select Mac Volume:
Clicking the ISP Quickstart will open the mac volume to a folder display. Drag your Mac files onto this volder, using the large icon display. Arrange them as you wish them to be seen by the user when starting the application. Here are two examples, one with all applications displayed, the one on the right hides the Install Now file.

Note that you must leave the folder open when you create the image. It's important that once you have the folder set the way you want it to display, that you close the folder to save the settings on the mac volume. Then click the mac volume to leave it open when creating the cd with Roxio Toast.
Return to the Roxio Toast application. Click the Other icon and select Mac Volume. Click the Select button and choose the Mac Volume you created (ISP Quickstart). Turn off Optimize-on-the-fly. Check the Autostart box and it will prompt for the Install Now script. Click OK and your Mac partition of the hybrid is ready:
Once the mac volume is set to auto install, save the Mac volume as a Roxio Toast image file by clicking File -> Save as Disc Image. Give it a file name that distinguishes it as a mac image and click the Save button.:

Use the file transfer software DAVE (www.thursby.com) to copy your Windows files to your mac. Dave translates the Windows NetBIOS protocol to Mac Appletalk. Always check your files after transferring - the folder sizes that you copied from the Windows system should equal the folder size on the Mac after copying.
Always Mount the shared resource using Dave before copying files. Then drag the files from your Windows share to the Mac folder. If you have Linux files, copy them using Dave from a Samba shared drive.

If you receive any errors, check to verify that the Settings tab is set correctly to Joliet (MS-DOS and Windows) and that the file names are not longer than the Mac OS 9 minimum of 31 characters. Also sometimes the Mac OS will add an icon file to the layout. These will be flagged by Roxio Toast with two red exclamation points. Delete them. Click the Settings tab and check to make sure the following entries are set. Also click the More button to enter your company data:
From the Other tab, select Custom Hybrid. If the Mac files is empty, select Mac and give it the Mac volume name and select the Install Now script as before.

Then select ISO to drag the Windows and Linux files to the ISO area. Rename the CD label to the name you want for the Windows label Note: you have a limit of 15 characters for the Windows label. Roxio Toast won't notice if you're putting in a larger label so beware of this limitation.
Also note: If you want the Autorun feature to work with Windows, make sure that there is a file called Autorun.inf in the initial directory. The autorun.inf needs to be able to execute a file in a relative directory (usually something like OPEN=.\Setup.exe)
Once the ISO files have been verified and prepared, Click File -> Save as Disc Image to save the image as a hybrid ISO image for distribution. ISO files can be created on Mac or Windows platforms using most CD burning software.
It's also a good idea to click File -> Save to save the Roxio Toast settings in case you need to reopen the Hybrid and make changes to the files later on:

An ISO image is a standard, uncompressed file format which allows the user to burn a CD-rom using most common CD-burning software which supports ISO images, regardless of the platform. Examples are Adaptec Easy CD, Roxio, or Nero software, for Windows, Mac or Linux systems.
Once you've downloaded the ISO image file to your hard drive, you can usually either double-click on the file to invoke the CD-burning software, or open the file from within the CD-burning software application. At this point you can click the Record button to build your cd. If you're distributing the ISO image file for others to burn, It's always a good idea to upload the ISO file first, then download and burn the image to verify that you're creating exactly what the customer will need to build later on.
Click the red Record button to create your image.
